We are back with a new week and here’s your weekly roundup of all things exciting in gaming and advertising!
Singapore seems to be the latest country to take on the fast-growing gaming and esports culture. In our last week’s roundup we also shared that gaming hardware company Razer committed $10 million SGD towards the development of gaming and esports in the country. In the latest news, according to Channel News Asia, companies are looking to capitalise on the growing interest in the market that continues to get a boost from the region’s young and mobile-savvy population. Gamescom Asia also makes it debut in Singapore next year.
Enterprise Times reports on the success of the European gaming market, driven by disruption from digital distribution, gaming as a service, and the data-driven ability of companies to try new games and formats. “Recent investment in next-generation consoles, streaming, subscription, eSports and VR/AR means mid-size European video gaming companies are offering an attractive package of innovation and growth,” the report says.
Automobile company Nissan announced a partnership with FaZe Clan and OpTic Gaming to design a trio of esports gaming chairs themed around some of its iconic cars. The company also took to Twitter to run a poll on what the users would like the most and the GT-Chair was amongst the most popular choices. Read more on Engadget.
Game Seer Venture Partners has raised $11.1 million (€10 million) to invest in high-quality PC and console game projects, reports VentureBeat. The company would carry out the investment over the next three years with an aim of investing in multi-platform licenses of “PC and console games from the core segment as well as innovative indie productions.”
As the popularity of esports grow, everyone wants a piece of the pie! Businesses are trying new ways to make the most of the interest in esports, and the latest news comes from Osaka where an esports-themed hotel is coming up. Planned to be called the “Esports Hotel E-Zone Cyberspace,” the nine-story hotel will feature upscaled suits and over 70 high spec gaming PCs. Find all the details here in this article on Techspot.
